NOTICE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING OF MEMBERS

NOTICE is hereby given that an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Members of the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Club Chess Club will be held on the Mezzanine Level of the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Club, 563 Pittwater Road, Brookvale, NSW 2100 on Monday, 8 March 2010 commencing at 7.45pm.

  

BUSINESS

The Business of the Meeting will be to consider and if thought fit pass the following resolutions.

RESOLUTIONS

“1. That the members accept the recommendation of the Committee regarding the future location of the Chess Club, with any change to come into effect as soon as practicable.

  2. That the members adopt the Rules for the operation of the new Chess Club, as tendered at the Meeting.”

Success for Manly members and ex-members in City of Sydney Rapid

There was success for both ex and current Manly members on Sunday 21 February. Ex-members Max Illingworth and FM Vladimir Smirnov finished 1st and second (ahead of people like IM George Xie) in the City of Sydney Rapid. Long-time member Jonathan Adams won the Under 1600 grade prize.

Championships Round 2

Another great win by Hans Schwandl in round 2, with another stunning combination to surprise Nina this time. Well done Hans! Mark and David (picture) battled it out as well, with Mark taking the point. Our new member Chris got his first point, and welcome to our even newer member Ivan who joins the grade C competition.  All the results and the draw for round three can be found on the tournaments page.

Manly Championships 2010

The championships 2010 are under way. In the first round we saw a great wins for Lucas, an amazing combination by Hans to beat Steffen, and a very tough fight between Chris and Mark. All results and the draw for the next round are on the tournament page. 

Manly Lightning Champion 2010!

Congratulations to Mark deGroen for winning the Manly Lightning Championships this year with an impressive score of 8 out of 9! Georg Pfefferle and Jozsef Gonda came joined second with 6.5 points. Thanks everyone for making this a fun evening!

Allan McGregor vs. Manly - 5 1/2 - 3 1/2

We opened our season yesterday with the traditional simul by our Club Champion, Allan McGregor. Last year he played against 8 (and won 9 games), this year he took the challenge to play a very strong field of 9 players. Congratulations to Jonathan Adams, Norman Greenwood and Martin van Elmpt for winning their game, Michael Anderson managing a draw, and of course to Allan for 5 wins against Chris Dimock, Steve Vegh, Tom Accola, Michael Dacic and Ludwig Wolf and the draw against Michael. Very impressive. You can find three of yesterday's games on the games page.
